It was announced that Singapore's population had grown to 4.84m in 2008.
Despite the low birth rate, our population has still grown. I reckon this must be mainly thru' migration.
I remember when I was a child and our population was only 2m then. Never could I imagine then that in this tiny land of ours we would be able to accommodate more than twice that amount of people! No wonder buildings have to be taller, and everywhere seems more congested nowadays. Every direction I turn, I seem to have someone breathing down my neck!!
Can we not slow down a little bit in this respect, and save some land for our children to run around in?
