Mr XYZ

How are you addressed? By your name? or by your surname?

Well, I have always been addressed by my name. BUT my husband has always been addressed by his surname. It could be because he didnt have a legal Christian name, meaning it was never on his ID, but only called such by his family. But then again you would expect his colleagues to call him by his Chinese name, not? Or another way was to just address him by his surname. BUT, no, they actually address him as Mr XYZ (XYZ being his surname).

Initally I thought they addressed everyone without a Christian name as Mr ABC, XYZ, etc. Then I found out that his previous boss didnt have a Christian name, and everyone addressed him by his initials, without the Mr., and not by the surname either.

Until today, when his (ex)colleagues meet him on the road, they will actually call him Mr XYZ.

Weird, dont you think?

And another weird thing: my son has a Christian name, but his friends call him by his surname!

11.11.11

yes, today is that auspicious day with a date that has all the same numbers.

Heard that there are many weddings held today because of the date. Guess it makes it easy to remember anniversaries, and less husbands will get into trouble for forgetting that special day.

So I thought that I would be appropriate to end the week with this Joke, and pray tell, who is the head of your household?

Have a great weekend!!

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD

When everyone on earth was dead and waiting to enter Paradise, God appeared and said, "I want the men to make two lines."

"One line for the men who were true heads of their household, and the other line for the men who were dominated by their wives."

"I want all the women to report to St. Peter."

Soon, the women were gone and there were two lines of men.

The line of the men who were dominated by their wives was 1,000 miles long and in the line of men who truly were heads of their household, there was only one man.

God said, "You men should be ashamed of yourselves; I created you to be the heads of your households! You have been disobedient and have not fulfilled your purpose. Of all of you, only one obeyed. Learn from him!"

God turned to the one man, "How did you manage to be the only one in this line?"

The man replied, "My wife told me to stand here."

Ugly vs Beautiful

I am not talking about people but words.

Yes, our language is able to depict beauty or the lack of it just by the words we use, either by association or contrast. I am not referring to "bad words" but normal words that we use.

Words which I deem "ugly" are:
Abuse
Disgust
Parasite
Mediocre
Mortgage
Vomit
Pay
Phlegm
Sick
Vulgar
Guilty
Grotesque
Taxes
Fines

I shall now list the beautiful words, which we hopefully can encounter on a more regular basis:
Awesome (a word which many of the young use frequently)
Thoughtful
Tranquil
Serene
Success
Fantastic
Aromatic
Exuberant
Discount
Free
Handbags
Shoes
Delicious
Succulent
Food (!!)
and on the local front - SHIOK!
and of course, LOVE!

Care to share what words are beautiful to you?

Here's wishing you a fantastic week ahead filled with beautiful experiences.
