It is well known that women are great multi-taskers - doing a thousand and one things all at the same time, and excelling at it. Cooking, keeping an eye on the kids, laundry, house-keeping etc,. How else do they achieve so much in a day.

Men on the other hand, are known to not know how to multi-task at all. When they are told to watch the kids, that's all they do - sit there and watch the kids. They dont help to clean up the mess kids make along the way, or anything else - except maybe keep an eye on the TV whilst nursing a beer.

But with age they get better at it. it has been documented that as they grow older, they are able to multi-task at the highest level - but not necessarily in the tasks that we want them to:

Guess its the end of the week already!

Have a great weekend!

one of those days

Ever had one of those days where you are so tired you dont know whether you are coming or going?

Well, yesterday was one of those days for me. I was packed from early morning until late evening - driving someone or other - here, there and everywhere. It was extremely long coz hubby had an important meeting in the office and couldnt help with the last run, tho he did do one for me.

I covered more than 100km in this small tiny island!! and all within 10 hours. Just like a taxi driver.

On my last trip to pick my son from his tuition class, I drove up to my front gate and just sat there - waiting - for the auto gate to open. I sat there and waited a good 5 minutes BUT it did not open. Why? Because I forgot to press the remote!!

Well, I am glad that was YESTERDAY. Must say, I had a really good sleep last night, and was not up by 4.30am this morning.

Garlic Warning

I know many believe that eating garlic is good for the health.

It supposedly reduces cholesterol and is a cure for many ailments.

But I have recently found out that Eating too much garlic is bad for you.

It can cause very serious damage and make your butt look funny.

Here's proof.

It has been verified and is a true fact.

This is no joke.

There has already been one documented case so far this year to one unfortunate woman

She's got her man, Finally!!

She had eyed him whilst shopping one day, and it was "love at first sight". She wanted to take him home to meet the rest of the family, but wasnt sure if it was a good time. But she knew she wanted him all to herself.

One day, she plucked up her courage and asked her mum if she could bring him home but her mum said "no". "He will distract you, and you will not be able to concentrate on your work. Anyway, you are much too young," Mum said.

She thought of him at night - night after night, not able to sleep. She yearned for him. One day, she even asked her grandma if he could visit at Christmas. But Grandma's reply was: Only if your Mum says yes.

She prayed nightly for her Mum to change her mind.

One day, her brother was going thru' the store-room at home. He stumbled upon a box. It belonged to mum - everything did. Everything in that little room was mum's. But being angry with Mum for having withheld some of his privileges that week, he decided to pass the box to his little sister. He told her it was her "advance birthday present", though her birthday was not due for another 11 months.

When she saw the box, her heart-beat quickened. "Should I open it now?" she thought. But decided that she had better ask Mum for permission first.

When Mum saw the box that her son had given to her little one, her heart dropped. Why? why did you give that box to your little sister?!? she screamed at him. It is not yours to give.

But Mum knew that there was no turning back now that the little one had seen THAT box. She couldnt deny her little girl of it any longer.

So with glee, the little one opened the box. It was the guy she had wanted. The little prince from the Barbie collection she had been eying for so long. Now it was finally in her hands. Her very precious male doll.

And that was how my lil D got her man!!

Scribble, scribble, scribble

Guess what?

Stardust gave me an award: Ta da ....

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Oh wait - But was it for?

Let me check: defines scribble as

scrib⋅ble  [skrib-uhl]

–verb (used with object)
1. to write hastily or carelessly: to scribble a letter.
2. to cover with meaningless writing or marks: to scribble all over a page.

–verb (used without object)
3. to write or draw in a hasty or careless way.
4. to make meaningless marks, scrolls, lines, etc., with a pencil, pen, or the like.

5. a note or other writing that has little or no meaning.
6. a hasty or careless drawing or piece of writing.
7. handwriting, esp. when illegible.

I admit I used to scribble a lot.

I remember that one of my teachers wrote in the comments column of my report book that my handwriting "can be improved!". (#7 above)

I also used to love to scribble all over my books (#2 above). The testimony of it was in my school textbooks. Little doodles, drawings, names, etc could be found around the pages.

But I have come a long way since, my handwriting is much nicer and neater, and I LOVE my books and no longer scribble on it unnecessarily. And I HATE it when my kids scribble in their books!

So she maybe she gave it to me for ... definition #5?

oh, no! Better give more thought to my posts!!

No la - she likes my "scribbles, shares and tickles".

Thanks to the "God-Blessed Box"!

Parenting is a BIG challenge

... for me that is.

I am not sure where I have gone wrong. The hard approach doesnt work, and the soft approach is even worse!!

My son doesnt take his school work seriously, and he is already in P5. He is capable BUT lazy. IF he wants, he can do it. But he doesnt seem to want to do well. He thinks all the work the teachers give him is a waste of time. So if he can get away with it - he wont do it. Grades, I guess are NOT important to him.

And the worst nightmare for a Mum is when the teachers call to complain that your child has not been doing his work.

I really dont know what to do. Withdrawal of privileges dont work. Coporal punishment is something which I used to give him - but I know he totally resents it, and I think as they get older, I shouldnt be doling it out. The after effects of it - is that he will go to his room and sulk, and throw things about, or mess up the things in his cupboard. I know it shows Resentment. As a result, I am not using the cane, tho I threaten to.

I am at WITS end!

He is NOT a Bad or naughty boy. He is generally a lovable and well-liked boy who just cant see the importance of doing his homework!!

Does sparing the rod mean spoiling the child? or am I doing him a BIG disfavour by not giving him the cane BIG TIME??

This is really stressing me out!! HELP!!

Any ideas on what I can or should do?
