She ate a story!

Every time at lunch, I will usually talk to my children about what happened at school that day. One day this transpired:

Me: Little D, what was for snack in school today?

Little D: I had pasta soup, and you know Mum, there were letters in there today.

Me: Letters or lettuce?

Little D: A, B, Cs MUM!

Me: Oh! You mean it was an alphabet pasta soup. Did you have a lot? Did you eat up D - __ - __ - ___? (spelling out the letters to Little D's name)

Little D: No Mum! There were so many letters I think I ate a whole story!

Guess that explained her inability to finish her lunch that day.

Totally Ineffective

That's me! Have not been able to do what I am supposed to do. That means I am - (according to the thesaurus) incompetent, inept, powerless, useless, weak, worthless, etc.

You see it is less than 5 weeks to the PSLE. I am supposed to make my daughter focus on preparing for the exams, but I have been totally unsuccesful.

She finds a thousand and one excuses not to do her work. She will play with her little sister, watch tv, go on the computer and spend hours checking her email (I am sure she doesnt receive that many emails everyday!), feed the fish, play with her mobile, you name it she does it - except focus on her revision.

The same with my son. Tell him to do his homework and he has so many excuses.

BUT why is it when hubby tells them - they say: Yes Pa! and before I know it they are doing their work. It makes me feel so useless. Cant even get my own kids to do work. AND I hate having to trouble hubby at work to get him to talk to them. Even if I try dangling a reward - say: "finish your work and then we will do something fun together" I still dont get the required response that I want. Short of losing my temper and taking out the cane (which I dread doing), I am unable to get them to do my bidding.

This sure makes me feel LOUSY!!

The Mouse Story with a Moral

A mouse looked through the Crack
In the wall to see the farmer and
His wife open a Package.

What Food might this contain ?'
The mouse wondered - -

He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating To the farmyard,

The mouse proclaimed the Warning :

There is a mousetrap in the house!
There is a mousetrap in the House!'

The Chicken clucked and scratched,

Raised her head and Said,

'Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern To you,
but it is of no consequence to Me.
Cannot be bothered by it.'

The mouse turned to the pig and told him,

'There is a mousetrap in the House!
There is a mousetrap in The house!'

The Pig sympathized, but said, I am
So very sorry, Mr.Mouse, but there
Is nothing I can do about it but Pray.
Be assured you are in my prayers.'

The mouse turned to the cow and said
'There is a mousetrap in the House!
There is a mousetrap in The house!'

The Cow said, 'Wow, Mr. Mouse.
I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin Off my nose.'

So, the mouse returned to The House, head down and dejected,
To face the farmer's Mousetrap . . .
Alone.

That Very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the sound of a
Mousetrap catching its Prey.

The Farmer's' wife rushed to see What was caught.
In the Darkness, She did not see it was a venomous
Snake whose tail The trap had caught.

The Snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the Hospital ,

But she returned home with A fever.

Everyone Knows you treat a fever
With fresh chicken soup, so the Farmer
Took his hatchet to the Farmyard for the soup's Main ingredient.

But His wife's sickness continued,
So friends and neighbors came to
Sit with her around the clock.

To Feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The Farmer's' wife did not get well;

She Died.

So Many people came for her funeral,
The farmer had the cow slaughtered to
Provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from
His crack in the wall with great
Sadness.

So,
The next time you hear someone
Is facing a problem and think it Doesn't concern you,

Remember ----

When one of us is threatened,

We are all at risk.

We are all involved in this
Journey called life.

We must keep an eye out
For One another and make an extra
Effort to encourage one Another.

REMEMBER . . . . .

EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD
IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY;

OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.

Generation Y

The Silent generation, people born before 1946.

The Baby Boomers, people born between 1946 and 1959.

Generation X, people born between 1960 and 1979.

Generation Y, people born between 1980 and 1995.

Why do we call the last one Generation Y?

I did not know, but a caricaturist explains it eloquently:

We learn something new everyday, dont we??

Why Women are SOOOOO Special!

Mum and Dad were watching TV when Mum said,
'I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed.'
She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches..
Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the
following evening,
checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container,
put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the
next morning.

She then put some wet clothes in the dryer,
put a load of clothes into the washer,
ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.

She picked up the game pieces left on the table,
put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer.
She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.
She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom.

She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher,
counted out some cash for the excursion
and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend,
addressed and stamped the envelope
and wrote a quick note for the grocery store.

She put both near her bag.
Mum then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser,
put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer,
brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, 'I thought you were going to bed.'
'I'm on my way,' she said.
She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside,
then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.
She looked in on each of the kids and
turned out their bedside lamps and radios,
hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the basket,
and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm;
laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack.

She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list.
She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV
and announced to no one in particular.
'I'm going to bed.' And he did...without another thought.
Anything extraordinary here?

Wonder why women live longer...? '

CAUSE THEY ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL......
(and we can't die sooner, we still have things to do!!!!)

Whether a housewife or a working woman, every woman is special in her own way..
If U men agree, hand on heart, that women are special, just respect them as they
are ...
and their individualism and independence.
Cheers to womankind!!

Just wanted to share this story with you. And, have a great weekend ahead.
Smile and the whole world smiles with you!!

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: 'I am blind, please help.' There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, 'Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?'

The man said, 'I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.'
What he had written was: 'Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.'

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

Invite others towards good with wisdom. Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

Great men say, 'Life has to be an incessant process of repair and reconstruction, of discarding evil and developing goodness…. In the journey of life, if you want to travel without fear, you must have the ticket of a good conscience.'

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling!

And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!
